What a Difference a Tide Makes

On the outer shores, it’s all about the tides. I took this photo in October when the tide was fairly low. Low tide that morning was projected to be 2.4′, a high low tide. Still, it’s low enough that my stuff, perched on a drift stump, is high and dry.

My gear on a log; tides way out with a lot of sandy beach exposed

High tide finds the same drift stump rolling around in the swash

High tide on a December morning found the same log inundated. High tide was 9.2′, a high high tide.
