An Attractive Red Alga Meets Morning Sunshine

It takes an uncommon combination of low tide and cloudless skies for these two to meet. Here, morning sunlight illuminates and shines right though the blades of an exposed red alga.

  1. Such rich colours — love the burnt orange look. Backlighting is so much fun to work with. (And the pale green critters? Sea anemones?)

    1. Backlighting…I can’t say I was working with it, but you’ve inspired me, so I’m going to start! The anemones are giant green anemones, Anthopleura xanthogrammica. Thanks!
