A Tide Pool with a View

Most tide pools direct your eye to the vibrant diversity and drama within. I’m a case study, laying on my belly peering into the depths. But I’ve come across a pool with a focal point outside and beyond. Low tide on the morning of July 22, 2017 opened up access to a rarely visited tide pool. It’s not a secret pool, but it’s new to me. Tucked up on an elevated shelf inside a cave, it’s easy to miss. I worked my way inside until I lost confidence in the footing. When I turned I realized this is a tide pool with a view.

  1. Fantastic! Love this view. But how do you step around the pool without crushing all the creatures clinging to its edges?

    1. Good question. On one hand, these organisms are pretty tough; they get hammered by surf all the time. But on the other hand, a person can do some damage. I may have done some, I hope not much. Now that you asked, I’m going to be more aware next time I have a choice to make. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, and I appreciate your question a lot.

    1. Thank you so much for mentioning it. I agree completely. Now that you mention it, if I visit that pool again I hope I’ll take the time to let myself feel those feelings.
